Adoption Process

Once you see a dog you might be interested in adopting, click on Apply for Adoption. This online process will allow you to complete an application to adopt a dog from HTC Animal Shelter.  Please note:

 

1. Completing an online application DOES NOT RESERVE or COMPLETE ADOPTION for a dog from our shelter. It only allows you to save time when you visit our shelter.

2. We do not “reserve” dogs or hold dogs. All adoptions are completed in person at the shelter.

Where are the adoptable dogs?

Can I come visit the dogs at the shelter?

Yes. We are open for visits Monday through Friday and weekends by appointments ONLY.

 

Can I bring my pet for a meet and greet?

Yes. We absolutely encourage you to bring your current dog to meet your potential new family member. We do have a play area for meet and greet.

Our adoption process at HTC Animal Shelter is friendly, educational, and rewarding! Animals come to us looking for a forever home, and we want to make sure to give them the best opportunity. All of our dogs in our shelter, all receive spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccines, microchip and registration, and receive quality veterinary care from our community partner veterinarians.

After reviewing a pet, you can complete an online application located on adoptable dogs' information page. PLEASE NOTE: completing an application does NOT reserve a pet for you. It simply allows you to save time when you come to the shelter to complete your adoption. We do not allow online holds or reservations of pets. 

 

Adoption Fees

How are Adoption Fees Set?

​

Adoption Fee is $150.00.  

Our Adoption fee consists of our normal fee of $125.00 plus a microchip registration fee of $25.00. 

We found adopters were not registering their microchips, so we take care of it for you.

Adoption Requirements:

 

Be 18 years of age or older

 

A picture I.D. showing your present address

 

The knowledge and consent of your landlord (if applicable)

 

Ability to spend time/money necessary to provide training, medical treatment, and proper care for a pet
